Who We Are

The Amputee Coalition of Arkansas is a nonprofit organization made up of dedicated prosthetists, therapists, physicians, and amputees working to make limb loss and limb difference a little easier on everyone involved. We provide amputees, their families, and caregivers with the resources they need to readjust and live life fully.

Our Mission

The mission of the Amputee Coalition of Arkansas is to provide a forum to empower people affected by limb loss to achieve their fullest potential through education, training, support, advocacy, and togetherness.

Education Equals Empowerment

Members of the Amputee Coalition of America are always available to help answer questions about living with limb loss and limb difference. We are also able to direct individuals to available caregiver resources, provide guidance on how to accomplish daily living activities, and suggest possible solutions to challenges that arise.

peer Support

Perhaps our organization’s most important role is providing peer support. Because peer support is critical to recovery and readjustment, several of our members have completed the Amputee Coalition of America’s Certified Peer Visitor Program which trains amputees to meet with new amputees to give them inspiration, hope and information about living well with limb loss.

It takes someone who has been there to fully understand what it’s like living life with an amputation or supporting a person with limb loss or limb difference. That’s why the personal encouragement and information that comes from an experienced, well-trained peer can be better absorbed by an individual in this circumstance.

In addition to our members’ participation in the Certified Peer Visitor Program, our organization is also part of the Amputee Coalition’s National Peer Support Group Network which links amputees throughout the country with ongoing peer support in their local communities. The Amputee Coalition of Arkansas is one of the more than 350 member support groups included in this network.
